MOBILITY EXPENSE MANAGEMENT: Managing the Lifecycle of Enterprise Mobility
On Thursday, May 22nd, Invoice Insight conducted a webinar to review the lifecycle of enterprise mobility management. During the webinar, we considered the entire lifecycle of mobile devices, including cost management, asset management, ordering, and many other activities that affect mobility costs from "cradle to grave"!
The webinar focused on best practices for the following key areas:
- Operational execution of the 7 Critical Decisions mobile enterprises must consider!
- Enterprise cost management
- User Management, Entitlement, and Policy Compliance
- End User and Carrier Accountability
- Cost Control
During each webinar, Invoice Insight conducts several polls of our audience –- which includes a variety of government and commercial organizations –- to better understand how they are managing wireless and what their key challenges are. The following is a summary of each of our polls, as well as the results.
Poll 1: What portion of your enterprise's total wireless users are Individually Liable?
Almost 60% of our webinar audience had 90% or more of their user population on corporate liable accounts, effectively minimizing the issues associated with individually liable users. Surprisingly, 20% of webinar participants were at the opposite end of the spectrum, with more that half of their users on individually liable accounts.
Poll 2: How do your end users request new services or update their service and equipment?
More than half of our audience relies on an enterprise telecom administrator to process mobile orders, while another 40% utilize the services of a wireless administrator at the business unit level. Only 10% ask end-users to go through a carrier portal. Interestingly, no member of the audience had deployed a third-party, multi-carrier portal.
Poll 3: Which single area do you expend the greatest amount of effort on, related to mobility expense management?
Roughly equal numbers of webinar participants (approximately 40%) considered end-user support and expense analysis to be their areas of greatest effort. Only a handful of our audience counted carrier coordination, data management, or other concerns among their greatest time investments.
Poll 4: The MAJORITY of your users are on which of the following types of rate plans?
The overwhelming majority of our audience has turned to pooling as the primary method to manage end-user rate plans. Interestingly, no organization in our poll is using flat rate plans.
Poll 5: What are the primary tools your organization utilizes to manage mobile telecom expenses?
In this poll, participants could select each answer that applies to them. Clearly, enterprise review and management of mobile expenses are on most participants' agenda. However, the results indicate that few of the organizations polled are using third-party platforms or support to manage mobility.
